Abstract
A lithium complex of an abnormal carbene with the composition [H3BC{{N(2,6-iPr(2)C(6)H(3))}(2)CHCLi(THF)(3)}] was synthesized by the lithiation reaction of the N-heterocyclic carbene borane adduct {IPr center dot BH3, IPr = [C{[N(2,6-iPr(2)C(6)H(3))]CH}(2)] (1)} with nBuLi. The lithiated species was proven by NMR spectroscopy and unambiguously established by single-crystal X-ray structural analysis.
