KIM – Das Kompetenzzentrum Interoperable Metadaten

Abstract

Die Interoperabilität von Metadaten ist eine wichtige Voraussetzung für das Generieren von Information und Wissen in einer vernetzten Welt. Aus diesem Grund entstehen seit Mitte der Neunziger Jahre verschiedene Standards mit dem Ziel, die Interoperabilität von Metadaten zu erhöhen. Genannt seien hier vor allem DCMES und DCAM, RDF und SKOS. Aufgabe von KIM ist es, diese Entwicklungen zu begleiten und in die deutschsprachige Community zu tragen. Dabei bietet KIM neben reinen Informationsangeboten (z. B. in Form von Übersetzungen, Vorträgen und Handreichungen) auch konkrete Unterstützung in Form von Schulungen und Beratungen an.

The interoperability of metadata is an important precondition for the generation of information and knowledge of a multiplicity of available resources in a networked world. For this reason, since the middle of the nineties, different standards are arising with the intention to enhance the interoperability of metadata. We mention especially DCMES and DCAM, RDF and SKOS. The function of KIM is to accompany these developments and to transport them into the German speaking community. Besides pure offers of information (e.g. as translations, lectures and assistance KIM offers as well concrete aid in the form of training and advice.

L'interopérabilité des metadata est une prémisse importante pour la génération de l'information et de la science dans un monde interconnecté. Pour cette raison, depuis le milieu des années quatre-vingt-dix, des standards différents surgissent en vue d'augmenter l'interopérabilité des metadata. Ici sont nommés avant tout DCMES et DCAM, RDF et SKOS. Il est la fonction de KIM d'accompagner ces développements et de l'amener dans la communauté de langue allemande. Outre les d'informations nets (par exemple en forme de traductions, conférence et coups de main) Kim offre aussi des supports sous forme de formations et délibérations.
